“Mars to lose a moon, gain a ring”

Ain’t really much of a new thing.

When Mom bore children to the land,

Dad gifted her a diamond band.

‘Twas though to say, “our love will last”

Diapers, bottles and sleep bypassed.

As siblings grew, we would rebel,

Bringing our parents oft’ to hell.  

Then soon enough we’d leave the nest

(to give our folks a pleasant rest?). 

But then, surprise!  We’d land back home,

And act as though we’d never gone.

Be then consoled, Mars, honestly,

Things are as they really should be. 

E’en planets push and pull apart--

“This too will pass!” take then to heart.
