Dreams

Updated: Jun 27

It's hard to say why I favor this poem I composed long ago, returning to it now and then with a smile. The image AI made for me isn't the one I had in mind, but we'll go with it.

--

On rainy days I'd sit and muse

     about how life should seem;

     then, with fantasied thoughts

     accompanying me,

I'd enter my world of dreams.

Hand in hand we'd perambulate

     this microcosmic home,

     transfixed and

     in a revelrous state

that'd inspire voluminous tomes.

O wonderland, halcyon,

     with skies amaranthine blue;

     replete with fauna and

     flora rare,

remains our festal purlieu.

For in our haste to escape

     mundane reality,

     I locked the only

     gateway back

and forgot to bring the key!
