Hard to Trust?

ree

How do you keep and remain trusting in God when it seems like elements of life are constantly on fire? Or when it seems like the world itself is against you? Questions I sometimes ask myself as I see what goes on in the world around me. Or what I see going on with those who I care about.

It is hard to maintain faith when it seems like everything is going wrong. Doesn’t necessarily matter what the reasons are. The list of reasons can be endless. Violence in the world. Financial instability. Personal betrayals. Or in my own case various types of medical issues or challenges. Usually with family or friends. Even with that going on. God remains with us though the storms.

In my own life I have found that the lives of the saints and the history of the church can give us wisdom on how to understand the world. Many of the saints did not have easy lives. Many even had to give their lives for God. I know that this life we live is not meant to be easy. That for every blessing we gain there's often a road of challenges that we have to navigate. And it can be overwhelming at times.

Yet through it all is our faith in Christ that guides us. I know this guided me. Through many challenges and storms. Some that affect those who I care about. And others that have affected me personally. No matter what goes on trusting in God while the most difficult thing to do. Is by far the most rewarding. To have that total surrender. To be content and be at peace with God's plan.

The questions I asked in the opening paragraph is something that we should all reflect on from time to time. Looking into the history of the world. History of the Church. Looking into the lives of the saints. Reminders of what has happened that can guide is in the present. The saints had unwavering faith even in situations that were far from ideal. Through it all they still remained faithful. They had a level of trust that we can learn from. That is how I can trust God no matter how bad the storm seems to get. -
